New Trek retro cruiser from TrekWorld

From the looks of things 2010 will be the year of:
-Retro looking bikes
-Overpriced for their spec retro looking bikes (continuation of the 08/09 trend)
-Factory racks that aren’t deep enough to carry things in, and preferably on front because nothing handles better than a bike with 20 lbs over the front wheel
-I’m calling this one early as it will probably be 2011, but mixte will be the new fixie. You heard it here first.

(SIDE NOTE: coming soon to Craigslist – CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP Velocity deep-V’s and fully built fixies as people jump off the bandwagon…now that I can afford ‘em I’ll just have to work on that beer gut so I can squeeze into my 7th grade girlfriend’s jeans and my mom’s old LA Gear shirt. Should probably start saving up for knee surgery as well.)

Back to the Trek. Good looking bike for sure if the retro thing is your cup of tea. It should be noted that I’m a sucker for retro color schemes and retro looking bikes, so pour me a cup and grab me a crumpet and some fluoride. Digging the brake levers as well, they look relatively period appropriate. Will be interesting to see if the US market takes to these bikes and we *GASP* get more people out there riding to their local Whole Foods* or these will be on clearance everywhere come August 2010.

Is that a light there under the rack?

Good stuff Trek, your designers nailed it. Also, I stole these pics from the Bike Hugger Flickr stream so be sure to check out their site as they are actually adding value to the blogosphere, unlike me just repeating shit like an annoying little parrot on their shoulder bitching about how I want a damn cracker.

*Note I said Whole Foods and not Safeway, Piggly Wiggly, etc. It’s because these damn bikes are always so expensive
