Came across this opinion piece on the NY Times today and I had to laugh at some of his observations (especially the part about the Recyclery being overpriced….though when I rode by the other day there was a ‘For Lease’ sign on the building so maybe the free market worked. Craigslist here is ridiculous, pieces of crap selling for $150 – and to think I just sold Battlebike for $80 (of course I took off the fenders and new bars/grips)
He also did a very quick and very unscientific analysis on the prices of cars v. bikes on Craigslist in a few cities. Would be interesting to see this study done in a more scientific manner to see if the car selling prices revert to KBB or not.
